avoiding

I've not been doing a lot.

I have a lump in my breast(my mammogram is finally tomorrow), I quit at Wal-Mart and got my job back at Vowell's, I finally have a craft night tomorrow evening, had a crafternoon last week, and have met a lot of great people here recently. I went to the Soil and Conservation office last week with Josh, to talk to the USDA guy about his resources with community gardening and got a lot of leads, so I hope to look into those very soon.

I planted lettuce and potatoes so far for the fall. I planted 3 lettuce in the soil in front of my house, 1 lettuce in a large pot on my patio and 1 potato in the soil in front of my house. The lettuce in the soil aren't doing so well and it's because the soil has never been taken care of so it's lacking a lot of nutrients, the potato seems to be doing okay, it has some flowering. The lettuce in the pot is growing rapidly and I am very excited about it.
We haven't moved ahead on the beekeeping front, yet. A lot of financial stuff has come up here recently and we're strapped, but we're hoping to look into it soon.

This also means I can mark 2 things off of my list - craft night & yearly mammogram.

pinecone tutorial

So! I had a dream last night that we lived in a forest of JUST PINECONES and they were all glittery so, today we went out and got some suitable pinecones from the D'LO WATER PARK and then we came home and I decorated some! I hope to have enough done to give away with some Christmas gifts!

First, MAKE SURE THAT YR AREA IS COVERED! The glitter will get everywhere if you go all crazy like I did! I used an ice cream cone covered plastic table cloth that I bought during the summer time, for my work space.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- ALEENE'S TACKY GLUE
- Glitter of some sort. I used RED GLITTER PARTY GLITTER since it's the holidays.
- Pine cones! Make sure that they are cleaned out and no bugs or other debris are inside them
- You'll need some sort of box or Tupperware to work IN so that the glitter doesn't go EVERYWHERE
- OPTIONAL: cotton balls to make fake snow

First:
Gather yr supplies! I always find it easier to gather EVERYTHING that I'll need before I sit on my butt to make said craft. If yr doing this with little buggers, you may want to get an emery board or something and saw down the needles on the pine cones.
gather yr supplies!

Second:
Put glue dots on the tips of the needles on the pine cone
put glue dots on the pine cone needles

Third:(I know this pine cone doesn't have glue dots on it, I took the pictures backward on accident!)
Put it in yr Tupperware or other area that you don't mind getting glittery
put the pine cone in an area that you don't mind getting glittery

Last!
DOUSE IT IN GLITTER!
douse in glitter!
This little guy had a stick coming out so I used it to my advantage and put some cotton ball cotton and made it look like fake snow!

Happy pine cone decorating!

weekend to do list / what we did today / blah blah blah

About half way through my shift this afternoon I decided to text Josh to see if he wanted to take Lulu for a walk when I got home. So, when I got home that's just what we did!
She's kind of new to the walking thing since we just moved into our own place a few months ago and she was used to a big back yard with plenty of roamage room, but that's just not possible with the apartment.

I keep getting sinus headaches while at work but I think some of it is from stress of other co-workers which really sucks, but I think that stress is a factor at ANY job you'll have.
That's okay.
After I got off of work, I went to the library to pick up some crocheting books. They had more knitting books than crocheting so I may try a neighboring city's library next time.
crochet books

When I got out of the library I had a voic email! I guess I didn't get service in the library but it was my boss at work telling me to call him about a customer's order. I didn't know what that meant because I had a pretty easy going day, no real problems or anything. Apparently one of the people that came through my line at work said that she only had 1 "Pick 5"(you can pick 5 meats for 19.99$, a pretty good deal if you eat a lot of meat)but she had been charged for 4. I told my boss that no, she had 4 and the gentleman she was with said that he had 4. I had told the gentleman that he in fact had 3, with 4 separate meats but if he went and got another 1 that he would have a full 4 pick 5. I explained that it was a woman who was in a wheelchair and that I confirmed that the last 2 items that I rung up from them was a 3lb bag of yellow onions and a bag of red potatoes.
But a woman came in that wasn't with them. I told him that it was only the woman in the wheelchair and the gentleman, not any other person was with them. They paid with food stamps and the food stamps total came to 288.something$.
She was trying to get her money back for food that she says she didn't purchase but got charged with, but she DID purchase them! It made me very disturbed that someone would do that.
Any way, on to more positive things!
when I got home, I had mail!

I wore my teddy bear hair clip to work today. I used some puffy paint to make a bow on it the other night but it kind of looks like the teddy bear's head is split in half and stuff is oozing out.
AND FINALLY
day 3
day 3 of Growing Gingerbread! Josh says he isn't growing but I think he is!

Hot Cup of J....Hot Chocolate!

Aw man! I had to dig and dig in my cupboard but I KNEW that I bought a box of Hot Chocolate when it first started getting cold. Then it went up into the 80s so I said forget it and put it in the back of the cupboard until..TONIGHT!
Josh is still at the office and I feel really weird/nervous going to bed without him home so I've been keeping myself busy with crocheting projects and The Simpsons on DVD. I have SO many half projects done(1 legwarmer, 1 fingerless mitten, etc etc)that I need to finish but just haven't had the motivation here recently. Hopefully soon! *Crosses fingers*

Not Around

Lately I just haven't wanted/had the energy/had anything to blog about. I've just been working and sitting on my butt.
I did however, take in a pair of jeans that I've been wanting to for awhile now, just so I can do this:
73815_1526401593195_1029323961_31139883_6040077_n

I’m not sure why I haven’t felt like blogging, maybe just nothing blog worthy has gone on.
Tonight we watched “You’re Gonna Miss Me” ,a documentary on Roky Erickson(of 13th Floor Elevators fame). It was pretty interesting, but it left me feeling pretty sad about the state that some people are in and the underrated medical care for psychiatric problems. Not all medicine is bad, but I guess that’s super subjective.

Here’s a back log of what HAS happened:
I chopped my bangs off. I do this from time to time for various reasons..this time, they were annoying the pea puddin’ outta me so I had to just do it.

I also found out that I can fully braid my hair into pigtails. This is a big accomplishment on my part since my hair, dating back to the 3rd grade, has not been long enough to braid into anything.

I also updated my Etsy shop with some new crap last night.
SHOP UPDATE

I sold 2 beanies to some dudes on my Facebook so that was pretty neat. It was odd that they both wanted dark brown beanies.
This happened:

Because of this:
lulu

Josh came home a few days ago while I was at work ,to eat lunch and Lulu had apparently tore up her pillow and it looked like she was floating on a cloud. He said she looked so upset that she had done it, so of course she didn’t get into trouble because the picture is just too damn cute.
That’s all I really feel like telling about. Some stupid(really stupid)personal stuff happened but the Internet isn’t the place to talk about things like that, whether or not it happened on the Internet. This Thursday I have my work party and Josh has his office party. I also work 10-5, my party starting at 10:30 and his at noon. I need to figure out 2 dishes to make for each party and some how figure out how to know be totally bummed about not being able to make it to his office party. That’s okay!

Addicted

I am officially addicted to stenciling. I found an awesome stencil on stencilry.org with a skull & a pair of scissors as the cross bones. I thought it would be kind of troublesome since I am new with an xacto knife and don't really have good hand coordination when it comes to sharp objects. The round parts came out pretty good so I was thoroughly happy with the outcome all together! I suggest all of you run out to the store and get some freezer paper and all the other supplies and then YouTube search for "freezer paper stencil tutorial" and watch the Craftster one!

Stencils!

I recently watched a video from Craftster on YouTube about how to stencil with freezer paper. Oh my my...what a baaaaad idea! I am completely obsessed with it now. I want to stencil every thing that is in our house that can be ironed on!

Here's what I did tonight..starting off slow with the Black Flag bars
freezer paper stencil

and me, obviously stoked about the Black Flag bars setting home on a very unloved(until now)cardigan

I'm not totally sure if I'm going to go over the bars again with another coat of paint or not. I forgot to take in stretching over the boobsicles, soo...we'll see!
