Craft Night

homemade top

What a good day today was! I went to my mammogram, clean bill! She said she didn’t see anything that anyone should worry about that I’ll get a more comprehensive letter in the mail explaining what the results are, and what they mean. Josh and I went to lunch where I probably ate more hush puppies than a human should, but is there such a thing on a limit with hush puppies? We picked up some felt for this evening and then he dropped me back off at home so that he could go back to the office. I went to sleep and didn’t wake up until he had gotten home and it was time for me to go to Craft Night at my pal, Natalie’s, home. We had a really fun time. Broccoli and cheese soup, felt flowers and plenty of conversation and music courtesy of Pandora!

This is the top I made last night, attached to it are the felt flowers I made this evening!

the day i've been waiting for!

bike!

If you follow me on Tumblr, or are pals with me on Facebook, you know that I've been pretty stoked about going to get a bike that I found on Craig's List. Well ,that day was today!
I've already fixed it up a bit. The seat didn't have a cushion so I glued some poly fiber filling on it, then put a floral patterned panty hose bottom on it to act as a seat cover.
The body was black with an awful flame decal on it, so I spray painted over it with a light blue spray paint from Krylon. I need to pick up another can, though, to finish it up. Then of course I put a basket on it!
None of this could be done indoors because Lulu & Olive Oyl have proven to be completely terrified of the bike, and of course you can't spray paint indoors, so I was out in the sun for the entire time. I'm not supposed to be in direct sunlight for more than 30 minutes because of the medication I'm taking for my ears, but I guess I'll be okay!

bike!

I washed my hair with the water hose outside and it felt so good to be washing in the sunshine. The water also gets colder outside than it does inside, so that felt good too! I wrapped my hair up in a towel and stuck an ice pack(I really thought about a bag of corn, but digressed shortly after I remember the ice pack in the fridge)in the back of the towel.

obviously something i have not done
I cannot cross this off my list until fall/winter, unfortch :(

I made a co-worker and his family some guacamole the other night and brought it to him yesterday while we were eating lunch. I texted him last night to see if they had tried it and he said "It was awesome", this was my first food stuff that I have made for someone else, so it felt really good to hear that they enjoyed it!

It was too hot by the time we picked the bike up(it was only 10Am and it was already nearly 100F) so we cancelled out on Gourd Fest and Josh went up to the office instead and I am at home until I go to work at 8 tonight.

Staying positive while I'm sick! (or trying to)

Dinner
After this post that I read the other night on Home Sweet Home, I instantly jonesed for a pita pizza!
Today I went back to the doctor. The infection had spread to my other ear, I thought(and I was right) but I wanted to double check. He prescribed me another medication(ciprofil --which is also used when you've been exposed to anthrax!) He also tested me for diabetes and my numbers were high, but he said that I would be okay as long as I just kept on the track I was on(eating "properly", walking, ballet, etc etc)
After work, I decided to take some pictures of my plants progress & water them, as well as go around back and check on this really odd tree/plant thing that's nestled by our bedroom window.

A plant/tree thing in our backyard

While back there, I happened upon something GREAT & SPECTACULAR!
WATER ON MY SHOES

WATER HOSE ATTACHMENT
WE HAVE A WATER HOSE ATTACHMENT. This is GREAT news because I've been wanting to get a very small pool for Lulu & I to hang out in on my day's off.

so bright

Fernelope is doing great!
Fernelope!

This is our back yard, well, sort of. It's a big field after the dip from our real back yard and nobody's ever in it so sometimes I let Lulu run around in it
Back yard!

Plants

Cucumbers & Tomatoes

I watched Scott Pilgrim VS The World the other night, we rented it from Lila Land Movie Box, it's sort of like the Red Box but a local guy does it and has one in the market that I used to work at. I thought that I was going to dream about it, I liked it a lot.
PS: We bought a water filter for our faucet in the kitchen a few nights ago, as well as some reusable water bottles that are BPA free, and we couldn't be happier! The water is just so much more delicious & we've been filling up our water bottles and putting them in the fridge every night for nice cold water in the morning! If you don't have a water filter and you don't like yr tap water, go get one! Ours has an option to where you can "turn on" the filter, and it goes for 100 gallons. I didn't want to use the filter for washing dishes or anything like that because that just seems like it's wasting filtering, and as much as the filters cost(12$ USD), we just can't do that! BUT, by getting this, and for how many times we've already filled up our reusable water bottles, it's already paid for itself!
I also found someone who collects aluminum cans so when we DO get packs of soda, I've been putting them in a paper bag(I need to really get a bin of sorts for them) and giving them to my pal who knows this person, and she passes it(or will, I haven't given them to her yet) to the person.

The Life & Times of My First Ear Infection

The Life & Times of My First Ear Infection

To start off with, I woke up with a tiny bit of an ear ache yesterday but went ahead and made a well woman appt with my doctor for today and figured I would just mention it to him when I got there.
I went over to my friend Natalie's house for the afternoon/evening and hung out with her and her daughters. I brought home made lemonade, that seemed to be a pretty big hit and we talked about(originally we were supposed to do our sundial umbrellas) starting a Farmer's Market and doing a Craft Night and have decided the next time we hang out, we will discuss that further!

Homemade lemonade for Natalie's!

It was a really awesome time and I'm glad I've met her an Ann Louise, who I only met because of Natalie, really! They're both very interesting people that I can learn a lot from <3

I looked at the time and it was getting pretty late, and I should have been in bed soon for my morning appt with the doctor. A little after I had texted Josh to go ahead and come pick me up, I started feeling icky again. Nauseous, headachey, just plan ICK! So, we went to the After Hours Clinic in Magee. It was 9:20Pm, and they closed at 10:00Pm, we figured they would take us. We walked in there, I made sure that it wouldn't count on my insurance as an E.R visit(because that's a 150$ copay and I just do not have that kind of money!) and they explained that it would go as a regular doctor's visit, which I was happy about because that's a very small copay. Then, they told us "but we're not taking any more patients." WHAT? Are you serious? We were absolutely livid. There wasn't a sign that says they stop taking patients at a certain time or anything and I was in PAIN.
So, we went to the store and just picked up some sinus medicines and ibuprofen and I figured I'd stick it through the night. That worked, until I woke up this morning. I cancelled my appt as a well woman appt and just switched it to a regular appt because this felt like something that just couldn't be mentioned in passing.
What that After Hours clinic did not ask, was what was wrong. It took my doctor about 10 minutes to look in my ear, look in my throat, ask me some questions, tell me what I had and send my prescription off. It would have been about 9:30 by the time, had the After Hours clinic taken me. He prescribed me 2 different drops, a pain one and an antibiotic one and they seem to already be working so I'm happy. I called into work today because I just could not stand for the measly 4.5 hours that I had for a shift, but I can hardly stand going from the living room to the bathroom without having to grab onto something, so I'm taking it slow today.

The Life & Times of My First Ear Infection

Living in a small town and going to a small town doctor means that while yr supporting yr local economy, yr also sitting in agonizing pain in the 2nd waiting room because people like to talk, they like to know what's going on, how's yr family, how's yr mom, didja hear didja hear.
I'm not big on doctors, so when I go, anyone who knows about it, knows that I'm REALLY in pain. But this doctor..he was different. He'll be my OBG, for my well woman exams and my regular practice doctor as well. He didn't give me any lectures on my weight, he didn't talk about my blood pressure(because it was considerably high due to being sick) and we didn't talk about diabetes running in my family. I have never been to a doctor like that before. It was an enjoyable experience, to say that feels like the world should be blowing up right now. He prescribed me 2 different drops for my ears, one being a pain drop and one being an antibiotic and a note excuse from work for today.

PS: The good part about all of this means that I can cross number 18 off of my "24 before 24" list which was get a lady doctor! A lady doctor meaning, a doctor for my lady parts. I am calling tomorrow to reschedule my well woman check up and then a mammogram.
